What a great idea! I've owned many of those exact same rounds over the years but never thought to keep any back. But you take home the trophy for the longest list I've ever seen!

Thanks nitesite...I really got alot more, just haven't got the time right now to re-do the inventory. The list you see in the first post is off the top of my head...not comprehensive. And, I still need to take pics of all the boxes. Maybe, after the holidays... ;)

The "strangest" ever .45 ACP ammo I ever owned was bought in the early 80s and was called "EXPLODER" (tm) ammunition. It came in 20-rd boxes and basically it was a Speer 200-gr JHP (flying ashtray) bullet that had been commercially modified to have some added flash powder in the nose cavity and a large pistol primer red-lacquered over the opening. In theory, upon striking its target the primer would detonate, setting off a small explosion.

Ever see any? I would fall over dead if I stumbled across one box that I somehow misplaced way back then and find that it was still full of those collectable babies!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember the box was black and had gold lettering and a lightning bolt sort of graphic on it.

I have tried a few of those in various calibers over the years but I cannot say I collect them. Very interesting topic.
